The Midwestern Food Directory is
a project by The Midwestern Plate.

We are a resource focusing on the community of small farmers that offer ethically raised provisions in the Midwestern United States.

We advocate purchasing products from small local farmers
who use sustainable farming practices and
have a high standard for animal welfare.

Preference is given to farms that have third-party verification certifications such as Animal Welfare Approved, Certified Organic, American Grass Fed Certified, Certified Biodynamic, Certified Regenerative Organic, Certified Humane, G.A.P. and others.

Farms that do not have these certifications
are reviewed on a case by case basis.

We understand that getting certified is not always possible for small farmers as it can be a huge financial hurdle to overcome.
We know that many farms go above and beyond
certification requirements, without the label.
